GMO-Z.com RUNSYSTEM wins second prize in the contest for designing a plastic waste management application in the tourism industry

The competition to design an application (app) for plastic waste (PW) management in the tourism sector was launched and organized across the entire system of the Vietnam Tourism Association, including provincial and city tourism associations; the Mekong Delta Tourism Association; the Culture - Tourism Union Association; and units under the Vietnam Tourism Association.

The competition targets three main goals: Raising awareness among authorities, businesses, locals, and tourists about plastic waste; Proposing solutions and initiatives to reduce plastic waste in tourism activities, thereby developing a “Set of criteria for recognizing plastic waste-free tourism enterprises” for pilot implementation and issuance; Developing a detailed action plan for the sector and designing a plastic waste management app in tourism.

With thorough investment in research and solution proposals, the application developed by GMO-Z.com RUNSYSTEM aims to support communication on reducing plastic waste (regulations and laws on PW management in tourism; guideline documents for reducing PW in the tourism sector; research, initiatives, and programs on reducing PW in the tourism industry). The app thereby helps raise awareness among businesses, organizations, and individuals directly involved in tourism.

In addition, the app supports local PW management by providing a reporting system on the collection and treatment of plastic waste, serving as a tool for data collection and recognition of plastic waste-free tourism enterprises applying the criteria set.

Moreover, the PW management app acts as a bridge, enabling businesses and citizens to accompany, monitor, and evaluate the progress of plastic waste reduction in the tourism sector.
